UTRF adheres to the highest standards in historic preservation and relies on leading experts for guidance and planning. Recently, the Foundation raised a significant fund to produce the first-ever comprehensive Unity Temple Preservation Master Plan. This important document surveys the entire building, examining systems, materials, surfaces and artifacts and making recommendations for preservation and restoration. The study was authored by preservation architect T. Gunny Harboe, who has garnered international respect for his work on other important projects like The Rookery, Louis Sullivan’s Carson Pirie Scott building and Mies van der Rohe’s Crown Hall. Mr. Harboe was ably assisted in his work by UTRF’s Architectural Restoration Committee, which is comprised of dedicated professional architects, engineers and preservationists who volunteer their services.
The Master Restoration Plan was funded by a major gift from the Landmarks Illinois and contributions from individuals like you. Click here to see how you can support the restoration.
