Prairie School Adventures

Prairie School Adventures is a series of fun, interactive, high-quality educational programs for children in Grades 3 through 5. With the architectural principles of Frank Lloyd Wright and Unity Temple as inspiration, Prairie School Adventures explores architecture's relationship to visual arts, geometry, history, social studies, science and technology. Programs integrate key concepts such as historic preservation and sustainable design, and create enriching experiences through hands-on art projects, dialogue between local architectural professionals and students, and site visits to significant local landmarks. Click here for more information on upcoming Summer Camps kids.

Froebel Block Workshops

As part of a tour or as a stand-alone experience, Froebel Block Workshops help children deepen their understanding of math, science and art. For children of all ages. Contact us about scheduling a workshop.

Order your copy of David M. Sokol's 2008 book The Noble Room: The Inspired Conception and Tumultuous Creation of Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple. $22.95 plus shipping. The author has poured more than 20 years of research into The Nobel Room and has uncovered a dramatic story -- much of which turns out to be at odds with Wright's own description of the process. The story of the tumultuous, chaotic creation of a modern masterpiece comes to life in The Noble Room. Sokol, Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois, has generously donated all author royalties to Unity Temple Restoration Foundation, to aid in the restoration of this masterpiece. An eloquent foreword by Sidney K. Robinson discusses Wright's growth as an architect during the process of designing Unity Temple.

A Great Gift: Pat Cannon's new book Frank Lloyd Wright's Unity Temple: A Good Time Place, with stunning photos by James Caulfield. $24.95 plus shipping. Cannon's new book, published by Pomegranate in 2009, provides an intimate tour of this beloved building. Cannon discussed the history of Unity Temple, from Wright's design proposals to its role today as a National Historic Landmark. More than 45 of Caulfield's artful color photographs, along with historic photographs and floor plans, are featured. This book celebrates the ingenuity of a master architect whose vision is evident in every element of Unity Temple.
